Photography I
Photography I presents the basic principles, techniques, and processes of
black/white photography. Students will learn the fundamentals of
working with manual, 35mm cameras as well as digital cameras to shoot
assignments dealing with a variety of subject matter and compositional
considerations addressing the elements and principles of design.
Students will learn the processes of developing and printing images in
the darkroom. Students will also explore techniques and tools for image
manipulation through darkroom processes, hand coloring, and digital
imaging with Photoshop. Students will be responsible for required
readings for various texts, homework, journaling of ideas, and shooting
images outside of class time. One course is offered on alternate years.
