Control & Automation ABB introduces Measurement Care Service Agreements for process plants New Fabreeka Applications Engineer at ACE Fabreeka UK ABB Measurement and Analytics has introduced a new set of service agreements aimed at helping process plant operators to maximise the performance of their installed instruments and analysers throughout their working lifetime. ACE and Fabreeka came together in December 2015 to offer customers their well established, market leading ranges of motion and vibration control products. Called Measurement Care, the service agreement bundles tiers of maintenance services tailored to the particular needs of a plant. ABB’s customized service agreements for plant instrumentation and analyzers help secure long-term peak performance, minimize unexpected plant downtime, and provide realistic budgets. The Measurement Care modular service arrangement incorporates three maintenance service categories: Rapid Response, Lifecycle Management, and Performance Improvement. Rapid response includes timely technical support and swift workshop repairs. Lifecycle Management offers spare parts recommendations, regular inspections, and preventive maintenance. Performance Improvement monitors asset conditions on site or remotely using data to predict maintenance needs and optimize operations. The new Zetasizer AT – automated online nanoparticle sizing for process monitoring Malvern Instruments has launched the new Zetasizer AT, a robust, online, automated analyzer that uses dynamic light scattering (DLS) to automatically measure the size of nanoparticles in suspensions and emulsions. The new analyzer provides timely and reliable data that enables tracking of processes in the sub-micron size range, such as emulsification, dispersion, milling and homogenization, while at the same time eliminating the delays and inefficiencies associated with manual analysis. The net result is improved process understanding, streamlined process development and improved product quality. Find out more about the Zetasizer AT at: http://www.malvern.com/en/products/productrange/zetasizer-range/zetasizer-at/default.aspx Both brands are available from one highly experienced sales team, assisted by brand specific applications support. To fulfil this role for the Fabreeka product range, the company is pleased to announce the appointme nt of Barry Piorkowski as Fabreeka applications engineer. Barry joins Ace Fabreeka UK with extensive experience in product development, motion analysis and production research. He has a broad range of technical qualifications, including a PhD that was sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council through a global aerospace and defence organisation where he was a researcher for three years creating a product development methodology. After being awarded his PhD, Barry worked as a university lecturer supporting young engineers through undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Immediately before joining ACE Fabreeka UK, he spent two years providing business support to a wide range of engineering, technology and manufacturing companies. The new high quality range offers several benefits to users including long lifespan, availability in a wide range of sizes and they can be stacked together to make the most of limited business space. They also come with free labels. The Small Parts Storage Bins are made from a heavy duty plastic, are available in six sizes – from 165xmm x 100m x 75mm to 520mm x 310mm x 200mm – and five colours – red, blue, yellow, green and white. Fully stackable, the Small Parts Storage Bins can be configured together on louvre panels for even greater storage options. www.exportaglobal.co.uk/storage/small-parts-storage-bins Feeding the Production Line A-One approached UniTrak Powderflight as they were looking to upgrade their factory and make it more efficient. This would involve reducing the amount of dust and spillages whilst also saving time on packaging processes. Previously, once the feed products were mixed, they were dropped into a tote bin and then moved onto the bagging mixers using forklift trucks. This process could take from 10 to 15 minutes per mix. By installing aeromechanical conveyors to transport the products for packaging they would save time and reduce wastage. After discussing the requirements with A-One, UniTrak Powderflight recommended both models M100 and M75 of their Powderflight aeromechanical conveyors to handle different volumes of material. This particular equipment is designed to fit physically restricted operating conditions. For companies that work under tight dimensional constraints the operating angles and in-feed arrangements can be tailored to suit the individual situation. Powderflight aeromechanical conveyors are cost effective to operate as well as giving minimal noise disruption. They can handle a variety of different types of materials and do not separate blended constituents Tel: +44 (0)1457 865038 www.unitrak.com 25 years of supplying gear components to the world German manufacturer Fertigungstechnik NORD GmbH, a member of the NORD DRIVESYSTEMS Group, celebrates its 25th anniversary. More than 100 industry and political representatives attended a ceremony and tour of the factory in Gadebusch in June. The speakers included Kerstin Weiss, Head of the Northwestern Mecklenburg District Authority, Dr. Christian Frenzel, State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Steffen Timm, Plant Manager at Fertigungstechnik NORD, and Jutta Humbert and Ullrich Küchenmeister, Managing Directors at NORD DRIVESYSTEMS. In Gadebusch, UNICASE housings, shafts, pinions, and worms are manufactured for all NORD gear unit series, including industrial gear units with torques up to more than 250,000 Nm. The components are assembled at the group’s global headquarters in Bargteheide or in one of the assembly factories around the world, from where they are supplied to international customers.
