Panasonic MINAS A6
servo drives: Faster, more
compact, more precise
Panasonics new MINAS A6 series follows in the footsteps
of the highly successful predecessor, the MINAS A5 series.
The A6 series has been improved further. At the same
time compatibility with the A5 series has been maintained.
Thanks to the split core structure and a new housing we have been able to reduce not
only the length by 30%, but also the weight by up to 10%. Even the encoder design
has been made more compact.
An open serial communication protocol (RS232 or RS485)
The 20-bit MINAS A5 encoder (1048576 pulses per revolution = ppr) has been
upgraded to 23 bit (8388608 ppr). Consequently the resolution of the new A6 series
has been improved eightfold.
The new servo motors come with an even faster velocity response (3.2kHz), which means
that the driver can react even faster. In addition, micro vibrations have been reduced
considerably thanks to an improved reaction of the current regulation and linearity.

TRUMPower introduces the Intel’s Haswell™ compatible TMPC-550U, which is a
medically approved 550W ATX PC power supply equipped with a built-in 24V battery
charger. A single 24V or two 12V lead-acid batteries in series can be connected to the
TMPC-550U to be used as an interruptible power source, with the backup power being
400W. The battery charger in conjunction with a built-in DC to DC converter ensures
that all connected equipment will receive a stable supply of power with the correct
corresponding voltage in case of a blackout or temporary power loss.

The TMPC-550U comes with DC voltage outputs and maximum loads of +3.3V/20A,
+5V/20A, triple +12V/16A, -12V/0.5A, and +5Vsb/3A for standby purposes. The
TMPC-550U is designed to meet the 3rd edition of IEC/EN 60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES
60601-1:2005, CSA C22.2 No. 60601-1: 2008 and IEC/EN 60601-1-2:2014 (4th
edition) EMC standards.

Martindale Electric has created a ten-part series of
short videos detailing the benefits of choosing the
