Don’t be afraid of speaking English! Kingsway English Centre in the UK specialises in
bringing engineering staff up to speed in English language. Rick Johns, an electrical
engineer himself, explains more.
Globalisation is a word we hear
every day – and very often at
work, experience every day. As
larger companies swallow up
smaller ones finding a common
method of communication becomes
more and more important. And in
the majority of cases English is the
chosen language.
The problem comes particularly
with those in the age range 40
– 65 years old. You may even
recognise yourself here! If you are
younger than 35 – 40 you probably
had a reasonable exposure to
English at school; if you are older
than 40 you probably didn’t.
But don’t worry, help is at
hand. Kingsway English Centre
is a family owned and run
English training centre for midcareer professionals. “It’s what
we do” says Rick. “We provide
a safe, comfortable and relaxed
environment in which you can
make mistakes, laugh and learn”.
As the minimum age at Kingsway
is 25 years, and the average
age 45 years, you won’t be
surrounded by teenagers. So you
can relax, and enjoy unlocking
and developing your speaking and
listening.

Sylwester Puhacz is a 45 year old Production
Manager with RPC Promens Vehicles, manufacturing tanks and other plastic containers in
Poland. When he grew up the only language taught
at school was Russian. Since then Sylwester has
gained a basic knowledge of English from watching TV,
reading technical articles and listening to music.
Increasingly he has found the need to use English for
work, taking part in multinational meetings with his
colleagues at RPC. Sylwester made the decision to study
English intensively at Kingsway English Centre for 4 weeks to
give his English speaking and listening skills the boost needed
to get him using English with confidence. He is already becoming
a relaxed and comfortable speaker of English and now expects to
be able to take part in meetings proactively.
