Joint Venture between Stahl & OEM
NuTech responds to demand for VOC-free
powdercoatings for heat sensitive materials
Chemical company Stahl has entered
into a joint venture with OEM NuTech,
a world leader and innovator in powder
coatings for heat sensitive materials. Like
Stahl, Australian company OEM NuTech
has a strong focus on sustainability. With
their environmentally friendly powder
coatings, the companies expect to
make a substantial contribution to the
increasing demand for organic and ecofriendly materials for interiors and architectural applications. Stahl will
use the partnership to expand its coatings offering, thus strengthening its
market position as a coatings specialist.

Netherlocks paves way into the
future with Ex certification
As a manufacturer of traditionally mechanical process safety
solutions, Netherlocks is already bridging the gap for some
years now between mechanical standalone safety systems
and the plant level distributed control systems (DCS). This
lead to a growing requirement for integrated electronics in our
traditionally mechanical product portfolio (check link 1 and
link 2 for examples). Due to this, together with the common
use in explosion hazardous environments, Netherlocks has
acquired new specialist knowledge in the field of electronics
and explosion proof technologies.
In this respect, Netherlocks has now reached an important milestone, by receiving
the EN ISO/IEC 80079-34: 2011 ATEX/IECEx-certificate from international
certification body Kiwa. Starting in February this year various new processes
were designed, personnel was trained in Ex regulations and multiple audits were
conducted by Kiwa. Finally, on July 14 2015, a final audit found no discrepancies
and an official certificate was awarded.

Elcometer 456
Scanning Probes
Russian Oil Company Reaches across
the Globe to Improve Efficiency
Elcometer offer three Ultra/
Scan probes for the Elcometer
456 Coating Thickness Gauge,
providing very fast, reliable and
accurate measurements.
Ultra/Scan probes measure on
either ferrous metals (F scale 1
to 1,500 µm and F scale 2 to
5 mm range) or non-ferrous
metals (NF) metals. The probes are available as F only or dual FNF options.
When a Russian oil company wanted to
improve the company’s oil extraction and
processing efficiency they reached out
across the globe and turned to the Cardiff
based Tema Group to call upon their
vessel engineering expertise.
Probes have a replaceable cap to prevent wear during scanning. This
is crucial to maintaining probe accuracy. They use the Elcometer 456’s
patented offset feature, ensuring the thickness of the cap is included in
the adjustment process and discounted from the thickness readings.
The skilled Tema Vessel Division provided
with three different vessel packages
to support oil productivity: a water treatment package, a de-oiling
hydrocyclone package and a stand-alone sand collection vessel. The
experienced team at Tema Group manufactured the vessels to a high
quality standard with Duplex S31803, a hybrid stainless steel, which is
extremely corrosion resistant, so the vessels are built to ensure a long
lifespan on the exposed oil platform.

Terex offers
Latchways’ fall
protection systems
ESAB Launches
Cutmaster® Series
of Handheld
Plasma Cutters
Terex Material Handling is a registered
specifier, supplier and installer of
Latchways’ comprehensive range of
fall protection and working at height products. The company is offering the
safety systems alongside its extensive range of Demag lifting equipment for
new crane installations, retrofits and refurbishments. Terex Material Handling
will also supply and fit the fall protection systems to the cranes of other original
equipment manufacturers.
ESAB Welding & Cutting Products announced the launch of its ESAB Cutmaster®
Series of portable air plasma cutting systems, which range in output from 20 to
120 amps and produce a recommended “quality” cut on material from 6 mm to 40
mm. ESAB Cutmaster plasma cutters are among the lightest and most compact in
the industry, making them highly portable and easy to store.
Latchways manufactures a comprehensive range of safety equipment,
including the innovative ManSafe® fall protection system for working at height.
ManSafe® affords operators unfettered movement and continuous, hands free
security whilst working at height. The operator’s safety harness is secured to
the ManSafe® line via a high integrity lanyard and a ‘transfastener’ mobile
anchor point, providing comfort and mobility for the operator.
With ESAB Cutmaster products, the recommended cut capacity equals the
system’s true cut capacity. A recommended cut has a smooth cut face with little
or no dross and requires little or no rework or grinding, all of which improve
productivity and quality. ESAB Cutmaster products provide additional output when
needed, offering a maximum cut thickness that ranges from 60 to 150% greater
than the recommended cut. As a result, they eliminate the concept of having to
“buy up,” or purchase a machine larger than end-users actually need.

The final frontier Space flight of the 21st century
has not even left our solar system and already fills
the people with wonder, through stunning images
and data. Step by step, the extreme environment of space is being conquered in
ambitious scientific missions such as DAWN. The space probe DAWN has been on a
journey through our solar system since 2007, exploring the asteroid Vesta and the
dwarf planet Ceres. The fact that DAWN is still sending high-resolution pictures to
