Tom Parker Ltd.
Powering the Future
T
om Parker Ltd., hydraulic
and pneumatic specialists,
are delighted to announce
the arrival of a groundbreaking new range of super lowpower solenoid valves from E.MC,
leading manufacturers of automation
and fluid control systems.
Low-power solenoid valves are used
throughout the fluid power industry but
unfortunately they are not all
manufactured to the same high
standard. E.MC have worked diligently
to design an advanced range of
solenoid valves, that deliver some of
the lowest power levels available but
are durable, reliable and able to
operate at far lower levels of air
filtration. Aimed at traditional factory
automation markets and equipment,
these valves will be of great interest to
OEM Designers, Valve Assemblers and
End-User Engineers.
The first low-power solenoid valve
arrived on the market in the 1980’s.
While proving successful in reducing
power draw to approximately 0.5
watts, they often produced poor flow

and pressure ratings, which many
companies failed to improve upon.
E.MC’s commitment to research and
development has resulted in the
production of a highly-dependable
low-power solenoid valve with a 0.5
watt consumption rating. The E.MC NC
series low-power solenoid valve
provides 0.5 watt power, boasts a
lifetime of 30 million cycles and is
available in 12 and 24vdc. The larger
valve body size NM series provides
approx. 0.8-0.9 watt power
consumption and has 20 million life
cycles. This NM series is available in
12vdc, 24vdc, 110vac and 240vac.
Both the E.MC NC and NM series have
a working pressure rating of 0.15-0.8
MPa, with a guaranteed working
pressure of 1.2 MPa. Additionally, each
of these valves offers an excellent flow
rate and only requires filtration to 25
micron (μm).
Most solenoid valves are driven by
programmable logic controllers (PLCs),
which, when used with higher power
levels, have restricted power loads and
limited life cycles. Many users also
choose to install relays between the
PLC and solenoid valve, to protect the
control system. Usually, a standard
relay has 3 million lifecycles and would
consequently need to be replaced
approximately 6 times during a
standard solenoid’s operational
lifetime. However, the E.MC NC and NM
series have broken these restrictions,
as the low electrical current of the E.
MC NC and NM series solenoid valves,
greatly extend the PLC’s life and
remove the need for relays.
E.MC offers an impressive range of
innovative products that are
competitively priced, whilst delivering
outstanding performance.
