The Essence of Things
Savannah’s Innovative Interiors
by Rethink Design Studio
R
Rethink Design Studio is the quintessential creative think tank. Founded by
partners Joel and Erika Snayd in 2005 as an interior architectural studio, Rethink
Design Studio focuses on historic preservation, design and brand development.
With a talented group of SCAD graduates on staff, the firm is an innovative
leader in the Savannah design community. Through a process of exploration
and ingenuity, the designers work to ascertain the essence of their clients’ styles.
Ranging from an 1850s Savannah row house to a rustic contemporary restaurant
in a mid-century bank, Rethink Design Studio interprets their clients’ ideas into
refined, imaginative and functional interior spaces.
WEST PERRY STREET
The concept behind the 1850s four-story row house in downtown Savannah began
with a feather. Originally from New York, the family of four wanted to make
this home completely their own after living in a contemporary glass house. Joel
Snayd worked closely with client, chef and design aficionado Scott Lauretti, to
create a haven for his wife, who had been diagnosed with cancer, and two teenage
daughters. The feather motif came from an antique print and was reinterpreted by
Savannah artisan Bob Christian along the foyer walls. The unexpected placement in
ombre watercolor tones became a guiding light for the rest of the project and drove
all design decisions.
