Think seasonal fruits and vegetables in primary colors — red , orange , yellow , purple and green . And don ’ t forget the “ super foods ,” which include dark leafy greens such as kale , spinach , broccoli and bok choy . Incorporate a salad a day into your menu . If you ’ re in the habit of eating at a restaurant for lunch , pack it instead . You can control what you eat and make healthier choices .
Resist the temptation to snack on sugary foods during the day unless you are at a special event . Give yourself some wiggle room so you can splurge on those foods at parties . Remember , alcohol also contains sugar , which has a lot of empty calories and it causes inflammation .
