GARDENS
Garden in the Sky
The High Line is also home to a generous art collection . Friends of the High Line started the collection in 2009 by placing sculptures along the path . One of the more subtle art installations is “ The River That Flows Both Ways ,” located in the Chelsea Market Passage . This piece by Spencer Finch is a depiction of the ever-changing colors of the Hudson River on the windows of the buildings that form the passage . The installation honors the importance of the former rail line and the river . The color of each window frame is from a single pixel point from a series of photos made on the river in a single day . Like the Hudson itself , the window colors are constantly changing depending on time of day , the weather and the viewer ’ s perspective .
