The mission of Bright Blessings has connected with the community , which is reflected in the myriad of community connections that benefit the organization .
Outstanding examples of nonprofit support
• First Book Charlotte donates more than 6,000 books a year to ensure that each child with a birthday receives two books .
• A grant from the Dale Jr . Foundation provides up to 1,500 lap-desks annually . These lap-desks provide an accessible and mobile desktop for students , which have proven to be invaluable to students who can find it challenging to carve out a spot in which to study . The desks are distributed with cards that encourage students to work hard in school .
“ The Bright Blessings program supports children who , through no fault of their own , are in less than ideal situations ,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller , Vice President of the Dale Jr . Foundation . “ Our support helps those children to have a birthday party , which is something most children take for granted in our world .” Miller continued : “ I was intrigued that Bright Blessings was founded by a local family to help teach their children about the importance in giving back . At the same time , it ballooned into something special for the homeless children in our community .”
“ Our individual donors are vital to what we do because they are literally the hands and hearts of Bright Blessings . This incredible support ,” Amy said . “ Coupled with business and foundation giving and more than 20,000 hours of volunteer service , is what enables Bright Blessings to put 92 % of its operating budget directly into programs for the kids we serve .”
