With its year-round growing season, Santa Barbara has an abundance of fresh produce and delicious restaurants. I was fascinated by Santa Barbara’s current artistic explosion. The Funk Zone, a new area on State Street, was modeled after the vibe in Austin, Texas, and it is now home to artisan restaurants, funky art studios and unique coffee shops. With Santa Barbara’s deep historic heritage, this area makes the city even more diverse. With so many of the cities that we’ve featured in Peachy, I say, “I’m ready to move!” I really would move to Santa Barbara in a heartbeat and fill my garden with swaths of purple agapanthus and blood orange trees that I can’t grow in North Carolina.
