Www.PartyTimeMagazine.com You have been in the scene will before
most of the DJs that are around today.
What would you say are some of the
major differences in the scene now from
when you first started? :HOO WKHUH DUH D ORW PRUH SHRSOH WKDWV IRU sure. When I started DJing Raves twenty
years ago, it was more of a family type
community. Now everything is so big with
a major production. Things are bit to WUHQG\ IRU P\ WDVWHV 'RQW JHW PH ZURQJ , love big shows, but my heart is in the un-
derground and I am glad there are still un-
derground shows going off in Los Angeles.
While so much has changed, I still think
that a person that goes to their first Rave
this weekend, still feels that same rush that
I felt twenty years ago, so despite all that
has changed, I feel that will always remain.
What DJ equipment did you first use
when you started DJing, and what are
you currently using nowadays? Man, I started DJing when I was thirteen.
That was in 1986! My mom and aunt
bought me some cheap turntables and
mixer from Radioshack and I learned the
basics on that. I had some friends in the QHLJKERUKRRG WKDW KDG 7HFKQLF V DQG

is a Tonium Pacemaker. That thing is GRSH , KDYHQW XVHG LW IRU D JLJ \HW EXW basically it is a complete DJ rig that can fit

Tell us about some of the interesting
places that you have been to outside of
California to DJ? Hawaii is always a favorite. Last time I
was there, it was at a show with Richard
Vission. The place was packed. 2000 kids
jam packed into this venue on the island.
The vibe was thick! I have also DJed in
Alaska a few times which is always a great
time. I will be honest, one of my favorite
places to DJ is Minneapolis. That city just
loves music. Every time I have been there,
I have had an amazing time. Other top
places for me are Phoenix, El Paso and
Seattle.
What are you working on in the studio,
and when can we expect some re-
leases? I just finished up an album under my Reef
Project name. The stuff I make under that
name is more chilled out stuff. Mainly Am-
bient and Downtempo. Interviewed by R2D2 7KH QDPH RI WKDW DOEXP LV FDOOHG $TXDFXOWXUH DQG LW ZLOO EH RXW LQ $SULO on System Recordings. I am also working in the studio with my vocalist
Erin Powers for a new album to come out this year on System also.
Other than that, I am working on collaborations with Von Ukuf, Randy
Seidman, Slighter, Dirty Freqs, DayV, DJ Flash and of course my own
stuff.
