If the police catch them before they get to the USA , they have to go back home . But if they are not caught , they can stay in the USA forever .
So all those islands together create a 240km long archipelago that is called Florida Keys . And the very last island is the one we visited – Key West .
There are three things I remember most from Key West . The very first thing that stood out and attracted my attention were all the buildings and houses . Wow ! Those people really care about the architecture and beauty of the island !
The second thing , which is a very interesting fact , is that Key West , being the southernmost tip of Florida Keys , is just about 140km from Cuba .
The last thing I want to tell you about Key West is the story about “ Key lime pie ”. My sister ’ s friend asked her to find this pie and eat some because it was his favourite . So my sister Ola found a pie shop on google and asked us to locate it . We spent more than one hour looking for the place and when we eventually found it and tried the cake , it turned out to be disgusting . However , this is not even the worst part of this story .
Afterwards we found out that Key lime pie is the most popular cake in Florida and is possible to get it in every shop . We did not have to drive for one hour ...
So my tip for you is : ALWAYS do some research before wasting your time :)
Cuba , as you may or may not know ( I ’ m not going to judge you if not ) is a very poor island in the Atlantic Ocean . People there very often try to run away and get to Key West . Incidentally , the law states :
Before we left Key West , my dad took one more photo of me and Ola with the statue of giant ballroom dancers . It was really huge !
