6 Rules of a Healthy Diet

If you’re reading this site, chances are you look at nutrition from an
evolutionary perspective and consume a Paleolithic, hunter-gatherer type
diet. Ancestral diets have sustained our species for millions of years, and
there’s no doubt that a contemporary Paleo diet is an extremely healthy
way of eating. However, it’s important not to get narrow-minded and look
at the Paleo diet as the only viable approach out there. Populations around
the world have thrived on everything from high-carbohydrate, plant-based
diets that contain a fair amount of neolithic foods to low-carbohydrate,
meat-based diets high in animal products.
Clearly, the question of what is optimal or healthiest isn’t answered
by these observations, but what is abundantly clear is that humans are
extremely adaptable. In this article I’m going to expand our scope beyond
just Paleolithic nutrition and look at the characteristics that form the
foundation of all healthy human diets.
