scenario
Speaking of festivities, Fulda Gap always
has those. Again, not the real Fulda Gap,
though we’re sure the nightlife in the town of
Fulda is pretty happening. We bet there was
never an on-field, in-paintball-game marriage proposal, tactical paintball pistol competition, magazine-fed paintball game, an
anti-tank Nerf rocket competition or massive
paintball player and industry contribution
to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Fulda,
Germany though. The Fulda Gap scenario
game hosts literally hundreds of campers
densely packed into the field’s camping
area in everything from trailers and trucks to
tents and RV’s, bringing players together for
nightlife and shenanigans around the camp
fire. Then there’s the vendors. More vendors
descend on Fulda Gap each year and have
since the game has appeared on the radar. Companies big and small, from game
sponsor and paint provider Valken with their
large tent packed with camouflage, markers
36
and Sly goggles to Dye with selections from
their full range, Carmatech, Engler, MILSIG
with their magfed products, Stark and Pinokio, who brought a handful of their new
Speed Hopper prototypes to the game for
final testing by several of their sponsored
teams and trusted players. In fact, there
were so many vendors at the 2013 edition of Fulda Gap that there simply wasn’t
enough room along the “vendor row”
leading to the playing field to hold them
all, leading to three vendors, Pinokio, Carmatech and Stark, to set up adjacent to the
chronograph area. Several paintball personalities and professionals were in-attendance
at the game as well, including professional
paintball legends like Rocky Cagnoni of
Avalanche, Mike Paxson of the Ironmen,
2005 National XBall League World Champions Rob Staudinger, John Tinker and Dave
Fason of Baltimore Trauma and Matt Sossoman of Omaha Vicious.
