Historically the Millennium Series has
been way ahead of its time, producing
events in football (soccer) stadiums, Euro
Disney, on beaches, within city limits and
always attracting a crowd wherever it
went. Great venues, spectators, well run
games and a great vibe at their events
are what players have come to expect
when they hit the field in the Millennium
Series.
This year’s opening event, the Mediterranean Cup, was once again held in PugetSur-Argens, France. For those not familiar, Puget-Sur-Argens is located about
700 kilometres south-east of Paris. On
site accommodation for the Mediterranean Cup (provided by Parc Saint-James,
Oasis Village) included four person bungalows, four person villa s and six person
chalets - all priced at or below €246 for
three nights. In addition there were several partnering hotels offering discounts
to teams and players.
New this year and debuting at the Med
Cup were the woodsball event, a one-onone event, European Championship Veterans (over 40 division) and a five-man
Breakout division. The Millennium Series
ownership is obviously paying attention
to the trends in paintball. Competitive
woodsball is on the rise, thanks mostly
to Tom Cole and the Ultimate Woodsball
League. The Veterans division is something the PSP has done for years at their
World Cup, one-on-one events are growing everywhere and five-man is always
popular.
