The Pinokio Speed’s tagline is “Smaller,
lighter, faster” and the new Pinokio delivers
on each promise. The Speed is definitely
smaller than its predecessor, by a long shot
in-fact, and is comparable in size to the
most popular top-level loaders in the game,
the Rotor, the Spire and the Z2. The Speed
is one of the lightest hoppers in the game
as well, as with its two nine-volt batteries
installed and ready for action, the hopper
hovers above a postal scale at well under
a pound: 15.8 ounces. Interestingly, the
Speed, with its redesigned internal operating system, is perfectly balanced, able to
stand up on its reinforced feed neck completely unsupported. Even more of-interest
was its ability to balance on its feed neck
not only when empty, but even when filled
to capacity with paintballs. That capacity,
by the way, is 180 paintballs. While this is
significantly less than the previous Pinokio,
as the company was intent on making the
smallest, lightest hopper they could, this is
where the sacrifice had to be made. As for
the “faster” part of the new Pinokio’s moniker, the little hopper definitely delivers as
both an Ego and a Bob Long Insight were
able to shoot at 29 and 27 paintballs per
second respectively- more than fast enough
considering most events are capped in the
teens.
