editorial From the Prez issue 57 08/2013 Welcome Five Things I Think I Kno With apologies to Peter King 1. The PSP Webcasts Are Amazing I’ve been watching professional paintball games since there were professional paintball games. I’ve played in hundreds of pro games, I’ve watched hundreds more inside the netting, and I’ve watched pro game videos for years. One thing I know is I have never enjoyed watching pro paintball more than I do now watching the PSP Webcasts during or after each event. Matty Marshall, Chris LaSoya, Todd Martinez and Steve Rabackoff do a great job with the play-by-play and color commentary. And the PSP has all the tools and technology in place to produce professional sports broadcasting and that’s exactly what they’ve been doing. 2. The NPPL Needs to Survive No company in any field or industry gives their best effort when there’s no competition. It’s human nature to glide when you don’t have to flap your wings. Though the NPPL is now a distant second place in the U.S. pro/am tournament world, it’s still enough to keep the big dogs hungry. This I know... I think. 3. The TonTons Didn’t Purposely Cheat - click HERE if you missed this story The TonTons broke the rules--that’s inarguable. But was it intentional or not is the question. From a strategic standpoint it’s difficult to explain how purposely shooting hot is worth the risk. When shooting 300 feet-per-second you can hit any player on the field, from anywhere on the field. This is not a 10-acre woodsball field we’re talking about. The notion that a team would have a huge advantage shooting hot is just false, especially if you consider the penalty of being caught. Also consider that a marker is much less accurate when shooting 30-50 feet per second over the legal limit, it makes it even clearer that this was not intentional. I think I know the TonTons were guilty of being care- less. And I think I know TonTons were guilty of b ing a little clueless. Any player knows if their gun is shooting 352 feet per second. No chronograp necessary. But what wou you do if mid-game you realized you were shoot ing very hot? Unless you answer “nothing,” you’r probably not being hon But that’s not purposely cheating. It’s careless an clueless and that? ?2??B7&??RF?BFW6W'fW2F?R?V"????r?"?fWF??R&?F?B6??R&R6???rf? ??B???F&????W'2&R?76??r?W@??266V?&????F&??6?F??VW2F?w&?r7&?72F?&?&Bv?F???&R??6??6???W"v?W2???rWfW'??V"?6??R??W"&R?76??r?WB??w&V?F?????WfV?v?W2??b??R&R??R?bF?R???F?B?fR??B??VBB??????B?F??6??&?????F????v?&?B6???V?vR??f??r?VvV??"6??R?bF?R?F?W"??7F?&?6??w&VB66V?&??v?W2???R?W7B?fR??W?W&?V?6VB???bv?B66V?&????F&???2F???????F&????
