TOURNAMENT A 32-team limit was set for the event and teams had already begun to register. Several teams from Russia had registered, however three weeks before the Friendship Cup a special last minute event was organized and tried to entice Russian teams to come to Moscow with prizes such as winning a free entry and free paint to a very large event in the US in September. Teams wavered and some stayed and took their chances to play in Moscow. Although several teams canceled their registration the show in Kiev went on. Teams came from countries such as Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and a fun loving group of Brits – Celtic United. We landed a few days before the event to take a very rare moment for a bit of sight seeing. Our lovely hostess Vlada took the liberty to book us into an amazing hostel like none on earth., Dreamhouse. We were met at the airport by one of the members of the Ukrainian team, Kiev Express. We traveled to our hotel and once we were checked in, bags dropped off we were ready to take a short trip around the neighborhood only to find us in a delicious Ukrainian resteraunt where I enjoyed REAL Chicken Kiev! Our home away from home was in the center of Kiev and was filled with history and images that would be remembered for years to come. This would not be the end of our sight seeing for the day. Vlada met us later in the evening. We began what would end up being a 5-hour trek around the historic area of the city. We enjoyed sights and of course amazing Ukrainian food. It was hard to believe that we had been out around the city center for five hours. We returned to our hotel for a much-needed good nights rest, as the next day would also be filled with excitement and fun. X3EURO.COM 81
