saturday, main game One week, one long hot week…. That’s all that both armies had to truly prepare for this day. This D-Day was unlike any other. In years past both sides would spend the entire year leading up to the game planning, preparing, scheming, spying. There would be monthly and weekly conference calls. Commanders would run battle plans and war game. But this year, this year was different, there were some new card in play… This year was bound to be different than any other. It was looking to be the most unique D-Day to date. Fortunately both sides knew a little prior to setting foot on ground at D-Day Adventure Park. Both sides knew that the 238th Engineers were going to have a new task. The Germans and Allies both knew that there were no major game changing revisions to the flag station locations or the point values and scoring times, only minor changes. Both sides anxiously awaited more details on the involvement of audibles. The audibles were the biggest game changer. At any point each side could receive an envelope from the game staff with a mission on it and that mission could be anywhere, for anything, with any point value or no point value. Germans and Allies alike also knew that there would be some additional cards in play like different assets and objectives. The problem with that one, neither side would find out until a couple nights before game on. That limited knowledge weighed heavy on the minds of every leader and player. What would the game really be like? llx3.com 145
