PROJECT HIGHLIGHT
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
Medium Voltage Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade
About the Project
P2S Engineering is working on a major electrical
infrastructure project at Cal Poly Pomona. This
$15.4 million project will upgrade the existing
medium voltage infrastructure currently serving
the campus. P2S Vice President and Senior
Electrical Engineer Aravind Batra is leading the
design of this major electrical infrastructure
upgrade at the campus. The university wants
usage data to communicate to a central
monitoring location at the campus via the
existing telecom network.
Our Solutions
The project includes upgrading the existing
campus 4.16kV medium voltage electrical
system to a 12kV system comprising of a new
12kV medium voltage switchgear, underground
duct banks, 15kV medium voltage cables and
upgrade of existing 4.16kV medium voltage
building substations currently serving existing
facilities at the campus to 12kV substations. The
upgraded electrical infrastructure will provide
redundancy, flexibility, improved reliability and
additional spare capacity to meet the growing
electrical demands of the campus. Our scope
will include providing preliminary design,
working drawings, bidding and construction
administration services and also includes
providing cost estimates at each of the phases.
