William Rainey is much more than a photographer. He is a force of the very nature he admires so greatly. He’s an explorer, an adventurer, a mountain climber, a sailor, a fisherman, and ultimately the consummate outdoorsman. His passion for nature and all its components has allowed him to stretch his limitations – to search out and capture the most rapturous and elegant elements of the outdoors at the most precious of moments, and all of this can be found in his work.

Rainey says of his passion for photography, “It allows me to capture the natural beauty of Arkansas and share it with others. Now when I go on an outdoor adventure, I can capture what I see and bring it back with me. I don't have to rely on words to tell others what I experienced, I can show them.”

"The Ozark Trail continues to grow. Since 1991 two major sections have been added: the Wappapello and North Fork, while three other sections were extended: Taum Sauk, Karkaghne, and Courtois. Following the founding of the Ozark Trail Association in 2002, the Middle Fork section was completed in November 2005, allowing at that time for 225 miles of thru-trail at the heart of the system"

Many of these lakes were created by dammimg and are fed from the area's crystal clear rivers. The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers has the job of managing these, many of which are chained together, making lake levels very interesting at times.
