When arriving from Montreal , enjoy a scenic drive through the united counties of Prescott-Russell and stop along the way for local food , festivals , wineries and craft breweries .
From there get onto Highway 417 . Take exit 113 onto the Aviation Parkway . Turn left on the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway ( formerly Rockcliffe Parkway ), and enjoy the views along the beautiful Ottawa River . The road will turn into Sussex Drive , along which you ’ ll find the Prime Minister ’ s residence , Rideau Hall ( the home and workplace of the Governor General of Canada ) and stately buildings and residences .
When coming from the Toronto area , take High way 401 , then make your way onto Highway 416 north . Take exit onto Highway 73 ( Old Highway 16 )/ Prince of Wales Drive . Follow this scenic route , keeping your eyes open for the Experimental Farm and then the Rideau Canal , as you make your way into downtown Ottawa .
