Fashion Finds in
Fredericton
by JACKIE MUISE
Spectrum Vision Clinic in
Fredericton, New Brunswick is
noted for its warm and welcoming
east- coast nature.
Vanni frames, topped and
templed in shimmering pearl over
deep purple. The colours perfectly
match her small earrings and picks
up the pink and purplish hues in
her scarf.
Although Spectrum Vision Clinic’s
reputation around the city
is cutting-edge and
high-tech, the company can actually trace
its roots back to 1897
and the original owner,
Waldren Maxwell, who
was “the first man in
New Brunswick to
devote himself solely
to the practice of
optometry.”

extensive display room also
includes its “Boutique L’Image”
section and is the exclusive vender
in the city of Fredericton for such
high-end names such as Dilem and
Sasura – two lines that satisfies
Melanie’s penchant for versatility.

Melanie Blanchard,
an opticians assistant is
always on the forefront
of fashion when it comes
to one of her favourite
accessories - glasses.
“To me, eyeglass frames are
like a piece of jewellery,” said
Melanie, “I like to be able to
put on a pair of glasses that fit
what I am wearing, what I am
doing, and even my mood on
any given day.”
“I really like how the shape of
these taper sharply at the temple
corners too,” said Melanie. “This
is what today’s eyeglasses are all
about - bold colours, patterns
and shapes that offer individual
variety.”

“Sasura now has a new line of
personalized temple charms,”
said Melanie, “and Dilem’s interchangeable temples can make one
pair of glasses seem like several.”
Finally Melanie beams in a pair of
Maui Jim sunglasses. The classic
design, meant for a dark prescription lens, is gently oval in a thin
gold frame with a double bridge.
“These are absolutely one of my
favourites. Who wouldn’t feel like
a movie star wearing these,”
she laughed.
