30 » OpenRoad Driver BRODO KITCHEN Brodo opened its doors, huge windows and heart in May 2013. Chef/Owner Paul Cecconi’s motto is “simply fresh food” and service is fresh and fast. Don’t let the simplicity of that fool you: this is expertly prepared cuisine that reflects and respects all the goodness of the Okanagan. Featured are locally sourced ingredients in a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and baked goods like scrumptious cornbread. “Brodo” is Italian for broth and is a nod to Cecconi’s heritage and his success in soup competitions throughout the Okanagan. Select any of his daily soups and be rewarded with divinely prepared renditions. If it’s just too hard to choose, Brodo from its beginning has a unique solution. You can order a “flight of soups” that includes three small bowls of your choice. Cecconi and his kitchen team change the menu seasonally. “We source our ingredients with care and integrity, seeking the best from local farms that respect their animals, the land and the environment. On site, we have an urban cultivator to grow fresh herbs and microgreens,” says Cecconi. “Our beverage selection also supports local wineries, breweries and People’s Crafthouse sodas.” Check out the evolving chalkboard menu or daily fresh sheet and step up to the counter to place your order. You can also stock up on Brodo’s frozen soups, pickles and preserves. Testament to the delicious results are the local regulars, how quickly Brodo’s sells out at the Downtown Penticton Market and Summerland’s Light Up Festival, plus the hundreds of catering gigs it juggles. 483 Main Street Penticton, BC (778) 476-1275 tastebrodo.com
