Words and photos by Andrew Ling Volume 13 Issue 1 » 51 2016 Lexus RX » Now in its fourth generation, the all-new 2016 Lexus RX combines the flexibility of a sport utility vehicle with the driving comfort of a luxury sedan. At first glance, its front end features a completely new fascia, highlighted by Lexus’ signature spindle grille with a chromeplated border and triple L-shape-LED headlamps. From the side, Lexus designers have blacked out the C-pillars to create a floating roof effect never before seen on a Lexus product. Inside, a large 12.3-inch infotainment system monitor takes centre stage, and the shift lever has been moved away from the front of the instrument panel to create more space for the driver. Newly developed seats offer power recli ning and heating functions to both enhance convenience and luxury. Power comes from an upgraded direct-injection 3.5-litre V6 engine delivering 295 hp, mated with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid RX 450h also continues to be available with Lexus Hybrid Drive, and for the first time ever, drivers can also opt for a sportier F Sport configuration.
