Fenton Thorpe is a determined young man. As a youngster he was on the books with Bradford City and Leeds United, and is now a leading light in the Football Academy based at Darwen Academy. He also plays for the Lancs U19 squad and is attracting serious interest from American University teams. He enjoys it so much he even travels from Leeds everyday! “I just love it here’, said Fenton, “the training and facilities are excellent, everyone is really friendly and I’m doing well in all my subjects.” The Boys’ Football Academy opened in September 2012, and under the skilful leadership of Head Coach Matt Jansen (Player/ Coach Chorley FC and ex Blackburn Rovers FC) and Academy Director Chris Worthington has gone from strength to strength.
