Featured Teams Featured teams Monty in two cups Bank Holiday weekend saw Newcastle upon Tyne based Monty entered into two U7 Tournaments Saturday was Pin Point Junior Cup a football festival held in Cramlington Northumberland, after some good football matches Monty reached the Final and won the competition with exiting attacking football which everyone enjoyed great team performance. Monday arrived the second of the weekend tournaments was on us Monty had been invited to play in The Rutherford Junior Cup U7 Tournament held in Gateshead Tyne & Wear weather conditions were poor and as they played the heavens opened but the boys continued to play their passing game playing throughout the day attractive football skill and talent was shown as they once again reached The Final and winning The Rutherford Cup. This was the third Tournament win of the pre-season after entering and winning The Allied Cup held in Middlesbrough earlier in the month they received great reviews playing football taught to them by coach Paul Ashcroft looking towards our League season boys are smiling no better reward. Sunderland lads with Hearts (and feet) of Gold Fullwell FC from Sunderland played in an international tournament against a Ugandan team, Fullwell showed that not only are they fantastic footballers but they have hearts of gold. Ugandans normally play football in their bare feet and because the boots they were wearing were either too big or too small their little feet were in agony. After the offer of more boots Fullwell FC decided to take their boots off too and play in bare feet. Very proud moment for everyone involved due to the level of respect and care given. Roe Valley U9s This team is called Roe Valley U9's and they are from Limavady, Co. Derry in Northern Ireland. Myself, Ryan Mc Gonigle and Nathan Armstrong coach these boys which is a pleasure. This team have been together now for nearly 3 years and they play at a local grassroots development centre called Nortwest & Coleraine youth league in Coleraine. These boys are at a really high level for their age over here in NI. This year they have 4 tournaments called the Larne Sevens, Colin Valley and Jigsaw Five Project and last but not least the Foyle Cup only last week. If you look up the Foyle Cup you will see how big this tournament is in the whole of Ireland with teams coming from all over 16 www.onetwomagazineonline.com the UK. These boys never miss a training session, work really hard for each other and they are a credit to their parents as they are so well mannered with no ego's. They are developing so well listening taking things on board and also have the determination to do well. Myself I think you could be hearing a few of these boys names in the future but the main thing now is to let them play with a smile on their face and enjoy having the ball at their feet before the so called big guns start adding the pressures to this world-wide sport we all love. The team photo attached is the winners of the Foyle Cup 2015. Their names are as follows from right-left, top row first. Dara Mc Auley, Joe Mailey, Conor Armstrong, Kyle Mc Closkey, Ben Mc Gonigle. Sam Cormie, Rory Walsh, Jamie Brolly, Jake Martin, Eoin Mc Williams.
