2. Take all the tests you can.

3. Don't be shy!

5.

1.

Bring a Latin club to convention.

Don't forget.

2.

Know the program.

In the days before Convention, the official program will be released. The program has the schedule for all the events, and you should know which events pertain to you. Plan to give a Latin Recitation? Make sure you know when the sign-up times are and when you're supposed to show up to deliver your speech. On the Certamen team? Make sure you don't oversleep. Like eating? Make sure you know when meals begin. Speaking of food....

3.

Eat.

Snacks are highly recommended. I bring a small bag that's only filled with snacks. What? I like eating.

4.

Accept the fact that you will get no sleep

Between certamen, nom com, testing, creative arts, graphic arts, GA's, and everything else, it just won't happen.

5.

Take all the tests you can.

Don't know anything about Latin literature? Who cares? Most people don't either! You can place well in anything if you are a good enough guesser.

6.

Don't be shy!

Whether it's in playing competitive rounds of certamen or running for office, don't shy away from the challenge. All JCLers will extend their friendly hand so there is nothing to be afraid of. Plus, you will have much more fun when you don't worry so much.

7.

Everyone's a friend

Going along with that. People are friendly? No way. Yes way. For some reason, at Latin Convention, people tend to be much friendlier. You're at a nerd Convention with all your other friends, so I'd highly recommend making some more new friends with people you haven't met yet.

8.

Keep an open mind

Latin Convention is incredibly unique, and there's not a better way to describe it. You can only truly have the greatest time if you keep an open mind and take advantage of every opportunity you have. Don't be a shut-in and play FIFA with that Xbox you brought; rather, play FIFA with others. I'm kidding. Don't do that. Go to every event you can! Sign up for Got Talent! Participate in one of the colloquia! The possibilities are endless.

9.

Sleep.

Well, perhaps not at Convention. You can catch up on all the sleep you want when you get home. Make sure to come to Convention well-rested and well-hyped.

10.

Thank all the adults and SCLers.

Thank all the adults and SCLers. Many teachers joke that they get paid to go to convention. Well, they don't. They are all here helping YOU to make sure you have an amazing time. And who can forget those indispensable SCLers? So just a quick thanks can mean a lot to those dedicated adults who take time out of their busy lives for us!
