Encouraging signs
Book corner
Learning to chew and
bite helps develop
muscles that your child
will use for speech when
they are older!
Baby sign language is an
increasingly popular way for
moms and dads to communicate
with their babies before they
can speak. If you’re thinking
of starting a signing class with
your little one, now is the
perfect time to start!
Yes, your child is more likely to
chew on their book than enjoy
reading it, but there are some
lovely little board books that
are great for this age, including
the That’s Not My series and
the Fisher-Price Animals of the
Rainforest range.
Q&A
At what age is it safe to
give my son eggs? He is now
six months and we started
weaning a few weeks ago.
It is safe to give your son
eggs from six months,
however they should be
cooked thoroughly so that
the yolk is no longer runny.
Softer eggs can be given
from 12 months.

For your big parenting adventure
Your baby loves nothing more
than some repetition and easy
play time – ‘round and round
the garden’, ‘peekaboo’ and
action songs are ideal ways to
spend some one-on-one
time together.
