Student Ambassadors
Nura Gili Student Ambassadors work closely with the Student Support team and assist in the
delivery of accurate information on programs offered at UNSW, admission requirements, student
support services and university life to prospective Indigenous students.
Ambassadors are often the first contact that prospective Indigenous students have with UNSW at
careers markets, high schools visits, community events/activities or when visiting the Kensington
campus. These visits are conducted on a regular basis throughout the year. Ambassadors are also
required to participate in the major promotional events held by UNSW, such as Year 12 Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander Info Day, UNSW Open Day and UNSW Info Day.

Degree: Arts (Media)
Hometown: Wellington, NSW
Favourite thing about Nura
Gili: That we’re a family!
Why did you want to be an
ambassador?: I think it’s
important that prospective

Name: Ryan Barratt
Year: 2nd year
Degree: Arts/Law
Hometown: Woodford, Blue Mountains, NSW
Favourite thing about Nura Gili: The people as well as the
academic and social support system.
Why did you want to be an ambassador?: I feel now is
the time for me to give back for the opportunity Nura Gili and
UNSW gave me in accepting me into uni. Being an
ambassador is a great platform for greater involvment within
the Sydney Indigenous community and I also believe that as a
Darug man from the South Sydney region, it is important to
represent my community in a university context while being
able to provide support for up and coming Indigenous
students.
