Optical Students Asked to Tackle
“The Millennial Challenge” Transitions
Optical, Inc. is partnering with the
Opticians Association of Canada (OAC)
to support the next generation of eyecare
professionals through the 2015 Students
of Vision Scholarship Program.
Opticianry, optometry and paraoptometric students from across Canada
are all eligible to apply for the chance to
win a grand prize scholarship of $2,500.
To enter, applicants must develop
a project in the form of an essay,
presentation or video that explains
how they will incorporate Millennial
preferences and their eye health into
the way they will practice as a future
eyecare professional. A flyer detailing
the scholarship program challenge
can be found at http://canadaprofessional.transitions.com/direct/10276?
“We chose the Millennial topic to get
students thinking about how they will
customize their business marketing
plans or education efforts to reach this
age group that makes up a quarter of
our population,” said Isabelle TremblayDawson, senior marketing manager,
Canada, Transitions Optical.
Projects will be evaluated by a panel of
judges based on the following criteria:
creativity, strategic thinking and ethics.
“Educating and informing consumers
about matters related to their eye health
is an important part of our mission at
the OAC and the Students of Vision
Scholarship should serve as a good
exercise for students to consider what
Millennials are aware of when it comes
to their eye health and the eyeglass
buying process,” said Dalie Schellen,
president, Opticians Association
of Canada.
