few miles south of Sandpoint, Idaho, State Highway 95 snakes along the shore
of Lake Cocolalla. The pines filtering the views give way, and there stands – perhaps
unexpectedly – a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of critical devices
used in advanced automated systems. The building is home to the global headquar-
ters for Encoder Products Company (EPC), a modern 100,000-square-foot facility
that boasts 160 employees and houses design, engineering, sales, and manufacturing.
