#WeAreHere- Women in Conflict Areas:

#WeAreHere is a series of short documentaries showing women's positive role in conflict-ridden parts of the region (Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Libya and Palestine). In such times, women often pay the heaviest price as they become exposed to bigger loss of economic and social rights, vulnerability to sexual violence, and a rise in child marriage.

The documentary series tells the stories of over a dozen Arab women activists and how they continue to make positive impact on their communities and what it means to do that in a conflicts. Warranting significant attention from the media and the public, the campaign drew contributions of celebrities including Hend Sabry and Saba Mubarak and local media outlets that joined the cause and found more women with positive stories in conflict zones. Several women from different conflict areas have also contributed their own stories using UN Women's online accounts in hope of inspiring more women to continue their positive efforts and the international community to invest in women for sustainable solutions in times of fighting.

New Beginnings:

New Beginnings is a short documentary telling the stories of refugee women in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon and how the investment in their economic participation changed their lives. For years, UN Women has advocated a resilience-based approach to the refugee crisis to make solutions more sustainable rather than resorting to short-term charity. Watch here.
