of Education’s
Department
of Educational
Policy Studies
and Evaluation,
Goldstein
specializes in the
study of education
and culture with
particular attention to gender, difference and change within
contexts of comparative and international education. From
her experiences in Indonesia, she will add new units to her
courses in international education and the anthropology of
education. The College has new opportunities to develop
institutional exchanges for faculty and students with peer
institutions in Indonesia.
“Working with colleagues in Indonesian
universities and polytechnics on their
projects is a great reminder of concerns that
we share globally in higher education.”
“Working with colleagues in Indonesian universities
and polytechnics on their projects is a great reminder of
concerns that we share globally in higher education: how
to open doors for under-served students, how to engage
our students in their learning, how to support research,
how to balance our professional and personal lives, how to
contribute to our communities, and how to work in complex
academic environments that must respond to political,
financial and social pressures,” Goldstein said. “Even with
all the tremendous resources that we have at UK compared
to what I experienced at most Indonesian campuses, many
of our issues seem very similar. For that reason, I all the
more admire the ambitions and accomplishments of the
Indonesian action research project teams.”
