E
xploring some of the major habitats
that characterize Kiawah Island in this
issue of Naturally Kiawah has been
informative, interesting, and challenging.
The more we know about our surroundings, the
better equipped we will be to preserve and maintain
this beautiful Island. Our examination of habitats has
inevitably led us to take a closer look at the wildlife with
whom we share Kiawah. Naturally, it is time to focus on
some of our four-footed, scale-encrusted, shell-encased,
fur-covered, and feathered neighbors, so here is the
theme for next spring’s issue: All Creatures Great and
Small. We will feature articles and photographs on tiny
bees, our free-spirited deer population, and everything
in between. Please let us know if you have any special
interests, and send your photos, ideas, and comments
to [email protected]. See you with an
issue teeming with the best of Kiawah’s wildlife in
March, 2016! NK

are other Nations, caught with ourselves in the net of
life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail
of the earth.”—Henry Beston
