Dinner Tonight was developed to provide busy families with quick, healthy, cost effective recipes that taste great. “We conduct these cooking schools because many people are overwhelmed by the thought of menu planning and preparing healthy, cost-effective meals for themselves and their families,” said Angie Gutierrez, County Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences.
Jenny Mattingsley, Food Services Director at Oblate School of Theology, prepared Zesty Lemon Chicken along with Zucchini-Oat Chocolate Chip Cookies and
Suzanne Parker, founder and CEO of Powerhouse Bakery, prepared a Cran-Orange Swiss Chard Salad and Chocolate-Pomegranate Brownies for 200 guests.
There were door prizes, and guests were given an Italian chard seedling they could plant at home and use in future recipes.
