It was these small changes that build up over time that help cultivating a self – image and selfesteem among them . By engaging their minds in class , they ’ ll develop more solid , integrated , useful understanding of concepts . By providing them frequent feedbacks on limitations of their knowledge will take a charge on their learning , they will automatically start seeking information and experiences they need to progress . We must be the lifelong learners and we need to transform our students as lifelong learners . It was rather challenging but embracing all the challenges and taking it as an opportunity we moved further .

“ A teacher affects eternity . No one can tell where his influence stops ” -Henry Adams
Being a teacher is a rare privilege . A privilege synonymous with responsibility , obligation and commitment . You are being looked upon and you behold within you the fortune to inspire . You possess the power and potential to change the world . You can ’ t afford to take the position lightly because the impact a teacher has on his / her students are enormous and it knew no leaps and bounds . Apart from inculcating education and moral values the pivotal role of a teacher is to encourage the students to find themselves . After all realising one ’ s true ability and potential is the greatest discovery ever . Mark Von Doren rightly observes : “ The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery ”.
A teacher is expected to play a positive role in moulding the character of a student . Teacher ( guru ) is a person who possesses the power to disperse the darkness within a student . A teacher should be able to annihilate the darkness cast upon by ignorance and should endow the light of knowledge and wisdom . Knowledge never diminishes or tails off when shared or imparted , less it magnifies in clarity and conviction , benefitting the patron and the receiver alike .
Children are like free radicals . Full of vibrancy , enthusiasm , curiosity and pulsating with free will and spirit . Today majority of educational institutions rampantly follow the tenet of restriction and constraint . Innovation and curiosity are strangled by regulations , requirements and numerous other boundaries . How can you expect the students to thrive in a system hell-bent on standardisation ? Students should be given wings to pursue their dreams and aspirations . It is indeed a herculean and phenomenal task . But not unattainable . Because there is nothing in this world powerful than a positive push . A smile . A world of optimism and hope . A ‘ you can do it ’ when things are tough .
The Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai is quite right when she observes : " One child , one teacher , one book , one pen can change the world ”.
