INTRODUCTION Capitalised by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa ( AGRA ), the Africa Seed Investment Fund ( ASIF ) was set up in 2010 as a specialised impact fund to invest in seed businesses in sub-Saharan Africa . The fund is managed by Pearl Capital Partners , a specialist agriculture investment fund manager .
AGRA made a commitment of US $ 12,000,000 which has now been fully invested in 13 seed businesses across seven countries in eastern and southern Africa , including : Ethiopia , Kenya , Malawi , Mozambique , Rwanda , Tanzania and Uganda . Following the close of the investment period - at the 6th anniversary - the fund is now under active portfolio management till 2020 .
