While participating in the program the participant will have a mentor, participate in an orientation about the program. Also participant will be provided 40 hours of formal training each year and a individual development plan, which is a plan that provides a tracking mechanism for career planning, professional development and training.

Recent Graduate participants can be converted to a permanent position or a term position if the participant successfully completes at least one-year of continuous

service, has a great job performance, and meets the qualifications for the permanent position to which their role would be converted.

Presidential Management Fellows Program: Lastly, the Presidential Management Fellows Program is for individuals who have completed an advanced degree within the past two years, or who will complete an advanced degree by August 31 of the following annual application deadline. The Presidential Management Fellows program (PMF) is centrally administered within OPM (Office of Personnel Management). OPM announces the opportunity to apply for the program in the fall through www.usajobs.gov.

OPM selects finalists based on their experience, accomplishments, and assessment results. If selected as a PMF, the participant will serve a two-year excepted service position. Through the program, participants will receive mentorship, an individual development plan, developmental opportunities within their occupation, and at least eighty hours of training each year. PMF positions can be converted to permanent positions or a term appointment in the competitive service if the fellow successfully completes the program.
