My political affiliation has also cost me some work . Again , since we are living in a world ran by social media occasionally my views get out there . They are not bad views , they are just " for the most part " consistent with the Republican Party .
Sometimes people with different views take offense and lash out . In fact , I was attacked on a social media thread about a month or two ago . Someone dug deep in my timeline " way back " to find something they found offensive all that time ago . They took a screenshot ( I can ' t make this stuff up ) and reposted it on my timeline with a caption of why they thought it was offensive . I tried to explain that it was not offensive and they were just seeing what they wanted to see and putting their spin on it . But either way within two days I was emailed by a casting director , I was dropped from a production that I had already been casted for " we are talking several thousands of dollars here ". I was dropped because of the social media attack on my personal character .
So when it comes to politics and religion , I guess you just have to pay attention to who ' s listening . Remember , everybody wants to be offended these days ..... Don ’ t let it mess up your resume / bank account .
MORE Mag : I once watched a documentary about Dixie Carter ( Julia Sugarbaker ). Her character who was strongly democratic was actually her complete opposite . But one would never know it by her acting . Is there any type of role that you would find difficult to act in or would you turn down based on your political or religious beliefs ?
