After working for years as a film and television
producer, Sarah Vogel studied at the New
York Botanical Gardens, where she became
certified in landscape design and horticulture.
The walls on this estate section property
allow for color accents in the front and back.

Oreo the therapy dog is at home beneath
the lavender. Frank Conte of Terragraphics
constructed this wall, which wraps along the
front of the house, and curls around to the
sides. In addition to the homeowner’s tomato
plants, the elevated garden is home to
butterfly bush and nepeta, which both attract
butterflies. The lavender appeals to bees.
A pre-existing wall contains hydrangea,
purple smokebush, viburnum, roses and spirea.
The front wall ends with steps next to a
wooden air-conditioner cover.
