In June , Doug was privileged to speak at the Louisiana Church of God annual spiritual life conference . This statewide conference was sponsored by the district office and the gracious invitation from Bishop Melvin Shuler . This was the 29th consecutive year in which Doug has been invited to be a key-note speaker at a state ‘ camp-meeting ’ ( summer spiritual life conference for pastors ) in his denomination . He says , ‘ Unbelievable !’
‘ Breaking the Silence ’ was the name of the conference hosted by Pastor Mark Cowart , Colorado Springs , CO . It was stellar conference live-streamed across the nation with nationally known leaders , speakers and authors . Doug was invited to share on prayer – intensity and passion in prayer ! The invitation to the conference came as a result of a video tape of his speaking at another national conference . Thanks Pastor Mark for the honor of sharing in your conference .
In the fall , Doug shared in a number of city-wide calls to prayer in a partnership with Life Action Ministries in Cummings , GA ; Douglas , GA ; Cartersville , GA ; and Dalton , GA . In each case , luncheons for pastors and business leaders offered a chance to challenge community Christians regarding unity and prayer with a goal of revival and great awakening . In some cases , the numbers were dozens ; in others , hundreds . God is moving !
In late October , Doug participated in a One Cry Georgia event , simulcast from the Sports Arena in Cartersville , to churches across the state and the nation . The unique event was designed as a call to prayer and revival across the state of Georgia . Thanks to One Cry leader , Byon Paulus for his vision and his invitation to participate . Also , to David Franklin , National Day of Prayer coordinator for Georgia .
INTERNATIONAL ENDEAVORS
January 19-21 , Doug led portions of the consultation on Unreached Peoples as a part of the Synergize Conference in Orlando , FL . This is a gathering of international leaders . Doug serves in the role of prayer advocate-advisor to the movement .
February 12-15 , Doug and Barbara traveled to Belgium for a Ministry to the Military prayer leadership conference . The setting was an old castle grounds , a short distance from the
United Nations center . This was the first official meeting in an effort to double-down on prayer in Ministry to Military centers throughout Europe . Thanks to Jennie and Brian Humann for the invitation and for hosting this meeting .
In February , a historic gathering – a first – occurred in Dallas , TX , the convening of prayer coordinators from member denominations of the Pentecostal-Charismatic Churches of North America . Last year , I requested that the PCCNA provide a umbrella for prayer leaders of member denominations , and , a means by which we might connect , collaborate and synergize our efforts . The first meeting of this small , but formidable group took place last year . In a few weeks , the second annual meeting will occur . The first meeting included representatives of eight different denominations / organizations including the Assemblies of God , the Church of God , the Church of God of Prophecy , the International Pentecostal Church of God , the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada , the Awakening America Alliance . The PCCNA prayer commission represents more than 30,000 North American Congregations . Pray for revival in these churches .
In April , in Lusaka , Zambia , prayer leaders from almost forty nations gathered for four days of training . The goal was to train a prayer leader for every nation in Africa . Doug took thousands of dollars of materials , in electronic form , to distribute to these leaders , in addition to printed books and other resources . Almost 60 % of active nations in Africa now have identified prayer leaders – now , we have to find a way to regularly connect and empower them .
In July , delegates from around the world gathered in Nashville , TN for the Church of God General Assembly . Doug ’ s role was the prayer room . There is a special report available on the General Assembly prayer room activities at www . praycog . org / prayer-at-the-general-assembly-2 . You will also find an abbreviated version of that in this annual report on pages 2-3 . continued on page 10 7
