Joao’s Portraits
The results of an exciting new collaboration
between mineheart and renowned international
artist Joao Figuieredo. A collection of rugs that
infuse modernity with tradition, playing with
the whole concept of art and how we appreciate
it. By appropriating traditional portraits and
taking something away he gives the works new
meaning and a surreal twist.
The design is made possible by digitally
printing the pattern on to a special fabric
backed rubber which is the hand cut in to its
final hide shape. Unlike real cowhides this one
is hypo-allergenic, washable, non-slip, and
will not curl up at the edges.
Albert Rug His knowing aura is haunting but
his story hidden.
Emperor’s Dream Rug They grapple and
yearn but just what is it that this beautifully
observed group are challenging each other for?
Charlotte Rug Delicately held but essentially
ephemeral, this lady’s posy dangles
dangerously. Is she all she seems?
Annabelle Rug Her substance is still there but
all we can glimpse are the finishing touches.
