Assil Skaiky
At just 24 years old and already lined up to show her range of designer printed silks
on the catwalk in London and New York over the next six months, The Assil Skaiky
collection is already a success and the future looks brighter.
The young, quitely spoken fashion designer recently completed her Fashion and Textile degree and decided to put together her collection of silk scarves.
Assil Skaiky is so confident in her ability to become a well known brand that she has named her collection after her own name. She always had a fashion streak in her and was often found looking through her mother’s wardrobe, checking out the colour and the feels of the material, even as a five year old.
As she approached A levels at college she studied Textiles along with subjects that would lead her to density, the career that she felt would give security. But, playing with fabrics once more ignited her imagination into Fashion design and for her final year project, she created a yellow silk dress and that became her passion. Now, she works only in Silks.
At University her work was chosen to be shown at the Birmingham Clothes Live Show, where designers Teatum Jones gave such encouragement and feedback that it gave Assil the huge boost of confidence that she could be successful in her own right.
Her philosophy is that everything comes from nature and that silk being a natural material would combine with nature themed colours. She said “when I wear silks I feel confident and elegant, silk also has a luxury, sensual touch and I want my clients to have that all over feel alive factory”
