#Unshakable

'#Unshakable' is a non-gender specific movement/way of life I founded shortly after the release of my debut novel, Silent Symphonies. This consists of a daily motivational message centred around everyday life and there are quite a few unforgettable men who top the list of followers/supporters. However, my heart tugged at me for more. 'There's a more specific group that requires your attention Sally', was the whisper from my soul. After a lot of umming and ahhing, I created a narrowed-down version of #unshakable, consisting predominantly of the same everyday thought-provoking message, but with a little extra for women. My initial reluctance stemmed from the fact that being a divorced single mother of two, there was the perception that my female-only group, Together We Are Unshakable (TWAU) was born out of bitterness.

This was communicated to me directly by both men and women. One day, I wrote an article in which I hesitated about being labelled 'feminist' and it was in fact, a couple of married followers that gave me a right kick up the bum. It was then that I truly realised that being openly pro-woman doesn't make me anti-man. It just means that there are more women out there who need to read the messages I send on a daily basis + the extra because I write from an angle of relatability. Of course there are men out there who are single dads, victims of toxic relationships, and who relate to the struggle of trying to raise kids in parallel to a career and 'self', but let's be honest, the statistics tip the scales in showing that there is a greater need for feminist pick-me-up messages even simply by virtue of the fact that in this day and age, it still is a man's world. Do you know that every week, 2 women in the UK are killed by a current or former lover? Should we go into the statistics for less developed countries? According to the guardian, women earn £300k less than men in a lifetime. I will never dim my shine so that a man or member of the world can be more comfortable with the glare. Go get sunglasses darling. I am an unshakable woman who invites everyone to join in this way of thinking, especially women. Make sense?

What does it mean to be unshakable? Here's the motto:

Be unshakable. Be in truth with yourself. Love yourself.

There is no power struggle here. This is not to say that I believe a man's role is extinct, that men do not need to read about inspiration and motivation or that there are no good men out there. Yes, I am single but I am still a hopeless, day-dreaming romantic. Deliberate slow dancing in the dark will continue to make up my perfect date after a scrumptious dinner that began with him pulling the seat so that sexy me can sit cross-legged and deliberately feminine. I believe in the perfect intention of partnerships. I believe in the magic of true, compromising love. I believe in the beauty of a home with a chimney, a nicely mowed lawn and cake in the oven. However, I also strongly believe in the power of individuality. To stand up on your own two feet irrespective of your relationship status, to look in the mirror everyday and recognise yourself, to identify the reason for your existence, walk your true path in defiance of anything that attempts to enslave you even if it means walking it alone! So when I say to you that I am pro-woman, I do not for one second mean that I am anti-man, in fact, the issue of gender will rarely apply in my daily contemplation. I just mean that I, Sally Chiwuzie, am an unshakable woman. I do not look left or right when I pursue my dreams and can be brutally arrogant much akin to a lion disregarding the opinion of a sheep as soon as I identify my truth. I am happy to be the only 'upside down' pencil in a pack. For the purpose of relationships, I know exactly what I bring to the table and for that reason, I will never be scared to dine alone.

I will never dim my shine so that a man or member of the world can be more comfortable with the glare. Go get sunglasses darling. I am an unshakable woman who invites everyone to join in this way of thinking, especially women. Make sense?
