O Coronel John McKay , da reserva do Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais dos EUA , é autor , consultor e palestrante . Como oficial de Infantaria , serviu em três guerras , sendo ferido duas vezes . Tem títulos de mestrado pela Georgetown University e pelo National War College . Criado na América Latina , foi bolsista da Fundação Olmsted e é tradutor e intérprete de espanhol . Serviu como adido naval em El Salvador durante a guerra civil nos anos 80 e como Comandante da Força-Tarefa Conjunta-160 , na Baía de Guantánamo , em Cuba , em 1995-96 . Trabalhou na América do Sul para uma agência nacional de Inteligência e no México para a agência Drug Enforcement Administration .
