tralian Register # 0365 so it illustrates many of the early things done to the first one thousand cars .
Oh , did I mention the Australian Register ? Well , there ’ s another interesting story . That fine young gentleman John Craven had been busy collecting car numbers from around Australia for the past 18 months . He ’ s identified nearly 100 MGCs in Australia and he cross referenced them with the MGCC UK ’ s factory records . Most owners are keen to see their car noted in print , but a couple aren ’ t . John looked in detail at the 9,022 entries in the UK list and worked out how many cars were Tartan Red and described an interesting story about all the other colours too . He ’ s worked out what countries took delivery of MGCs and listed the numbers that

went to the various North American states as well as the UK dealers . He ’ s also looked at the ID plates on the inner guard and what they mean and when they were attached to the cars from the body builders at Pressed Steel to the Abingdon Factory . He ’ s also made a few discoveries and there will be pictures of these ID plates in the Book .
So while “ MGCs Down Under ” will be essential reading for MGC owners it is not intended to be a definitive description of all the details but just a thorough collection of photos and experiences of Australians and New Zealanders over many years .
