Thanks Barry and Aaron we had a
fantastic time.
The 60Th Anniversary Dinner is getting
close as is this years Kimber Run. If
you haven’t booked or entered for
these events please do so ASAP as
we need your support to make these
occasions a success.
Sales of the 60th Anniversary Wines
are going reasonably well, we have
sold about 25 doz. of the original 40
doz, so if you have not purchased any
yet, now is the time.
At the May committee meeting we
had a request for help in sponsorship
for one of our young Motor Sport
Members, Scott Stephenson.
Scott, after his a very respectful performance in the Aussie Race Car Series at the Adelaide Clipsal race meeting has been invited to a competition
called the Aussie Drivers Search.
The competition selects a number of
promising drivers from each state to
compete at the Marulan Driver Training Centre in the A.C.T. on the 9th of
June, with the final stage on the 29th
of June. The ultimate prize: a fully
funded practice day and drive in the
Aussie Racing Car Series at the V8
Supa car round in Queensland.
The committee has agreed to help
sponsor Scott and on behalf of all club
members we would like to wish him
every success.
Finally, the committee received a
communication from family members
of the late Bob Brown who was the
first President of this club when it was
formed in 1958, he was widely known
for his involvement in most forms of
motor sport including speedboat racing. He raced in dirt track racing at
Kilburn prior to the start of racing at
Rowley Park. Bob drove a number of
cars including an Alfa V8 Special and
a TC Special both of which he
shipped to the 1951 Grand Prix meeting held in Narrogin Western Australia.
Sadly Bob died at the age of 44 in
1958. His family has now kindly donated various trophies and memorabilia to the club to be displayed in a
suitable manner. As your President I
have written on behalf of the committee and all members a letter of thanks
to the family for donating these items
to the MGCCSA.
Finally I must apologise for my mistake in my June report re. the first
Club Concours Competition, I mistakenly stated it was held in 1970, at the
Marion Shopping Centre, in actual
fact the first Concours was held on
the 9th of February 1960 at the Motors
