INTERNATIONAL AHSN INTERNATIONAL OFFICE ARAB HEALTH 2015 EXHIBITION PACKAGE LAUNCHED The Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) International Office recently completed two overseas missions to explore partnership opportunities. The first mission, to Dubai, was led by Yorkshire & Humber AHSN Managing Director Andrew Riley and Kevin Kiely, who is providing support in developing a strategy for the AHSN International Office. The mission comprised of a group of senior clinicians from the Yorkshire region, including included Dr Geoff Hall (Associate Medical Director for Cancer Services, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust), Dr Paul Dimitri (Director of Research and Innovation, Sheffield Children’s Hospital) and Mr Peter Sedman (Consultant Surgeon, Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust). The group attended a medical workshop forum at Dubai Healthcare City and visited the Arab Health exhibition, where they met with UK Health Minister Earl Howe. The AHSN International Office has also recently returned from a mission to India, which included an intensive programme of meetings with government officials and visits to various healthcare settings across four Indian states: Delhi, Chandigarh, Pune and GOA. Medilink has launched its Yorkshire & Humber Pavilion exhibition package for Arab Health 2015 – the largest and most prestigious healthcare exhibition in the Middle East exhibition in the Middle East. The Middle East continues to appeal as a key market for UK companies. The exhibition is expected to be attended by more than 70,000 healthcare professionals, giving Yorkshire companies an ideal platform to demonstrate the calibre of their products and services in a rapidly growing international market. It is estimated that the Middle East’s healthcare sector is worth in excess of US$80 billion and annually growing 16%. Next year’s Arab Health, which is in its 40th year, will take place 26 – 29 January, at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
